Let's talk about blogs!

I'm so excited to link up with Melissa at First Grade Smiles for her "Let's Talk About Blogs" linky! Such a fun one! I'm new to blogging, so I really like reading what others had to say on this one. Hop over and link up!

I'm curious what people have to say on the question I added. I see blogs who have kids faces blurred out, and a lot that don't blur out. My district has strict policies, so mine will be blurred, but as I said, yesterday was my first time putting a pic of my kids in action!

I FINALLY finished my Spring math centers last night. My husband is away for the weekend, so I had plenty of time to finish :) I'm so happy with how they turned out! I have 6 centers aligned with the common core. I had to finish them, they're in my plans this week!

  1. You're blog is really cute! I always have wondered about the picture thing too. Thus far, I just have avoided taking any (or at least posting any) with my students faces. I guess I would feel weird doing that unless I explicitly asked for parental permission. They do get a form about allowing photos to be taken...but I feel like using them for my personal use online is different because school uses would be more like the yearbook, etc. Your centers are adorable as well. I think I might be first!

    1. Thanks for your input! I am still super cautious about the picture taking but want to post more of what the kids are doing in the classroom!

  2. Your new centers look great! My district has students fill out a media release at registration so technically I can post pictures of my students on my blog except the ones whose parents answered no on the release, but I don't really feel comfortable with that. I usually cover their faces if I post pictures of them. I only do it to give my kiddos and parents some privacy. I might next year send home something asking parents permission for me to use their child's photo on my blog, but I am not sure yet. Our district is changing their AUP so I am waiting to see what that says first.

    1. Thanks for your input! That's a great idea, maybe I'll consider a form for next year :)

  3. I have not posted any students photos yet. If I do I will be sure their faces don't show. I like error on the side of caution.

  4. Although my students' parents have signed a release, they don't know that I blog. So I blur them out.

  5. I feel the same way about the photos. Nervous. I haven't posted any student faces. If I take pictures, I try and make sure to only get their work (without their names...of course). If I accidentally get a hand or the back of their head, I think that is okay as long as you cannot see their face. I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who feels that way!

  6. Hi Sara! I always cover up my kids' faces when I post blog pics. I just found your blog through the Fairytales giveaway - I love it!! I'm your newest follower!

  7. I agree with everyone else. I always want to be cautious. I don't like posting pictures of children without permission but will occasionally have the back of a head. Even with a media release, I would want the parents' explicit permission for it to be on my blog before I posted the face or any names.
